Huntstile Organic Farm Wedding Photography – Rachel & Ali
Huntstile Organic Farm Wedding – For some bizarre reason, most wedding photographers seem to be obsessed with the weather, particularly when we’re scripting our blogs! In fact, I feel the need to mention I’m writing this page whilst looking out of the window at a garden full of snow (it’s supposed to be the first day of spring for goodness sake!). The reason I’m bringing up the subject of weather for Rachel and Ali’s day is that the forecast was pretty horrendous for their wedding at Huntstile Organic Farm near Bridgwater! The thought of an outdoor ceremony on the top of a hill in the middle of thunderstorm was giving everybody the jitters when the lightning bolts started appearing on the BBC weather app!
Somehow, despite the surrounding areas subjected to torrential downpours, Rachel and Ali only suffered a light drizzle whilst the guests were boarding the tractor trailer to take them along the path to the stone circle! In fact, there was a very surreal spiritual experience during the ceremony; at the very moment the opening bars to “Here Comes the Sun” were played the clouds parted and the sun began to shine!!
Their ceremony was the first handfasting I’ve covered; it’s an old Pagan custom dating back to the time of the ancient Celts. It was administered by Georgina, a Priestess of Avalon from Sunflower Healing. It was great to photograph such a unique ceremony…check out the pic with the broomstick!
Their day had a truly international flavour to it. Although originally from the UK, Rachel and Ali currently live in Hong Kong and a number of their guests actually flew in from destinations even further afield than Asia. It just shows what a lovely couple these two are with friends making the long journey from all over the planet to such a beautiful quaint west country farm!
Once the formal and portrait shots were complete we headed back to the farm in a 4×4 where Rachel and Ali enjoyed their wedding breakfast and a set of hilarious (and tear jerking!) speeches. Their celebrations were topped off with a HUGE bonfire and sparklers!
Here are a few shots from their big day in Somerset!
